Since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Yemen in late 2014, Mwatana for Human Rights has documented dozens of incidents of drone attacks and U.S. military landing operations resulting in civilian casualties and damage to civilian objects in various Yemeni governorates. Drone attacks and military landing operations have targeted civilian objects, including homes, schools, public roads, and farms, resulting in the deaths and injuries of many civilians. By “U.S. Drone Attacks”, we mean the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) armed with bombs or explosive materials to attack targets. By “U.S. Military Landing Operations”, we refer to the air and parachute drops carried out by the United States of America in the context of its anti-terrorist campaigns inside Yemen, which have resulted in civilian casualties, including children.
