The Group of Eminent International and Regional Experts (GEE) established by the United Nations Human Rights Council has reported that civilian victims in Yemen are living under a "pandemic of impunity". The GEE highlighted that the judiciary system in the country "faces structural, technical, and other issues related to its independence, impartiality, and widespread corruption. Furthermore, the judiciary system has shortcomings related to fair trial guarantees, making it unable to achieve justice for crimes committed during the ongoing armed conflict." Due to the worsening violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law committed by all parties to the conflict in Yemen, there is a persistent state of impunity since Yemen is not a party to the Rome Statute and is not under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Nonetheless, Mwatana is working tirelessly to bring justice to all victims and hold all violators accountable.
