Parties to the Conflict Should Prioritize the Interests of Millions of Yemenis
Mwatana for Human Rights has called on the Yemeni parties participating in the upcoming Muscat consultations to seize the opportunity to prioritize the interests of millions of Yemenis, urging them to open channels of dialogue to halt all forms of escalation and reach political solutions to the outstanding issues in the economic, banking, and financial sectors, as well as the issues concerning Yemen Airways. The goal is to agree on immediate mechanisms, procedures, and steps to put an end to the deteriorating humanitarian and human rights situation.
Mwatana has urged the Yemeni parties to make it their top priority to reach an immediate agreement that ensures:
- Payment of salaries to employees.
- Release of all forcibly disappeared and arbitrarily detained individuals by all parties.
- Opening all roads and crossings between different governorates.
- Lifting all restrictions on Yemeni airports and opening them to commercial flights.
- Establishing a national pathway for mine clearance and clearing various regions of Yemen.
- Returning properties looted due to the conflict.
- Resolving all issues undermining the national economy and unifying the currency.
