Today, Monday, November 4, 2024, Mwatana for Human Rights held an internal meeting at its headquarters in Sana’a, led by the organization’s Chairperson, Radhya Al-Mutawakel; Vice Chairperson, Abdulrasheed Al-Faqih; and Executive Director, Mohammed As-Selwi, with the participation of unit directors, department heads, and the organization’s field and central staff. During the meeting, Mwatana announced the launch of a new phase of institutional work and development that includes expanding its operations beyond Yemen, initiating institutional transformation processes, and implementing job rotation, beginning in early 2025.
Both the Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson attended the meeting via Zoom from The Hague, while field researchers and legal staff joined from the provinces where they operate.
During the meeting, both the Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson praised the efforts of the central and field teams, highlighting their essential role in driving forward the desired progress and institutional transformation. They emphasized the need to prioritize digital security in the coming period.
In concluding remarks, Vice Chairperson Abdulrasheed Al-Faqih noted that the upcoming stages of work would require intensified efforts, a strong awareness of the organization’s mission and impact, and a deep understanding of its sensitivities. He added that, regardless of the circumstances, Mwatana remains committed to changing the bleak human rights landscape in Yemen and to advocating for human dignity everywhere.
