Attacks and Misuses of Hospitals

Since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Yemen in late 2014, Mwatana for Human Rights has documented hundreds of incidents of violations against healthcare committed by parties to the conflict in various Yemeni governorates. These violations against healthcare facilities include Aerial and ground bombardment, armed incursions, attacks with live bullets, occupation and use of medical facilities for military purposes, including prioritizing the treatment of fighters at the expense of civilians, denial of medical aid access, arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances and torture, physical or verbal attacks on the medical staff, attacks on paramedics, and restrictions on the freedom of movement of ambulances. By attacks on healthcare, we mean any act of physical, verbal, or other violence, obstruction, or threat of violence that interferes with the availability, accessibility, and delivery of curative and/or preventive health services during emergency situations. Such attacks constitute one of the six grave violations against children.Since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Yemen in late 2014, Mwatana for Human Rights has documented hundreds of incidents of violations against healthcare committed by parties to the conflict in various Yemeni governorates.
