Eid Mubarak to all civilians

On every Eid occasion, our heartfelt plea resonates to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Yemen

It’s a new Eid, and we are still waiting along with millions of Yemenis. Eid, despite the sanctity and importance of religious holidays, is the day the war ends. Hearts come together, and reunion takes place.

As a new Eid dawns upon us, we find ourselves anxiously awaiting alongside millions of Yemenis. Eid, with its sacredness and significance as a religious holiday, symbolizes the day when the war finally ceases. It is a time when hearts unite and long-awaited reunions take place.

Therefore, each Eid serves as a poignant call to open the roads and alleviate the plight of hundreds of families, who endure arduous journeys through valleys and plains, spending hours on the road, all in pursuit of reuniting with their cherished ones. Every Eid becomes a moment to reflect upon the mothers, sons, and spouses who have been unjustly robbed of joy, victims of a crisis that persists due to conflicting parties who continue to detain or separate loved ones.

With every Eid, Mwatana for Human Rights seizes the moment to implore the warring factions to rectify the flaws entrenched within the corrupt political framework and to renounce the poison of animosity and divisive discourse. It is imperative for Yemenis to place their unwavering trust in their fellow compatriots. The key to resolving our challenges lies within our grasp, not in the hands of external actors operating behind the scenes or beyond our borders.

We, at Mwatana, also draw attention to the dire economic plight endured by the majority of Yemeni citizens. This war has tragically turned the hopes and joys of Yemenis into haunting nightmares. Every measure taken to reopen the country's ports and harbors, lift the restrictions on essential goods, ensure timely payment of employees' salaries, and halt the depreciation of our currency will help alleviate the adverse consequences of this senseless conflict.

In conclusion, we extend our heartfelt wishes to the resilient civilians, both men and women, who persistently strive day and night, guiding their path towards enlightenment. They are the true builders amidst ruins, the creators amidst the destruction, the healers amidst affliction, and the artisans amidst idleness. Wishing you a joyous Eid and many more joyous occasions to come.
